Best advice is to use tourist visas legally for up to 3 years, u just need to leave the country and then do it again. This means going to immigration every 2 months to extend (6m if you go to manila immigration ) You dont want to tie up $28k with no interest getting a retirement visa Next dont think about buying as you cant own land but can own a title in some condos. Wait for 2 or 3 years before you make a buy decision, by then you will have found your piece of paradise. Renting is cheap and if the family from hell moves in next door, you won't have to sell. So from the above you have not made a commitment and are truly free. If you have property in the USA rent it out do not sell. For most people owning in developing in unstable developing countries is not wise. Happy retirment

To retire to Philippines you’ll need a minimum of $28000 US. Try to make sure you know the person you are going to be staying with there or have someone there that you are staying with that knows the different towns and areas. If you’re going to be retiring in the “province” then there isn’t as much risk or crime. There are many typhoons that come through there. Make sure you have a place to come back to in the US in case you need to flee away from big storms.
