Is tap water in the Philippines (specifically in Quezon City) safe to drink? I heard nearby squatters dump their excrement into the reservoir area..

I live in Quezon City almost all my life. When I was young, I was rushed into the hospital and we learned that I have Typhoid fever and the doctor said it is probably from a dirty water. I was confined for two months. My mother stays with me after her class while my father will go home to rest. Then when my mom would go to school, my father goes back. We started using a water purifier sent to us by my mom’s sister from UAE. Now, whenever we drink tap water (from other places) our stomach will get upset. We have a few relatives living around QC that drinks straight from their faucet and they’re fine. Not saying it is clean but maybe their body can take it. I believe there’s process before the water goes into our faucet but then, it is better to be safe.

It's generally safe, but might be an acquired taste. The water we store in our fridge is filtered, but I can drink from the tap without problem. Been living in Quezon City all my life, we only started filtering the water maybe 5 or so years ago
