Be prepared for cultural shock of your life. Just kidding. Philippines isn't all that bad. But be reminded that there are a lot that is available in the US that is not in the Philippines. Water pail and dipper is a common sight and use in any Filipino toilet, for taking a bath with amd washing one's behind. Plenty things to mention, but the challenge is to blend with the locals. Win their respect and admiration and you will have many loyal friends. Just be cautious, not all friendly strangers are friends. Don't leave home without bringing your common sense with you. Have fun and enjoy.

There are around 300,000 Americans living in the Philippines, the majority of them being Anglo-Americans from the Midwest. Most live in Manila, Angeles, Olongapo, San Fernando-La Union, and Baguio; others are scattered throughout Luzon and the Visayan Islands. The Philippines is a cheap version of the United States, and expect more or less similar quality of life for a cheaper price. English is widely used especially in mass media, traffic signs, stores, schools and universities; the vast majority are Christians (Catholics and Evangelicals). Beaches are everywhere. Adventure travel is possible even within 1 hour from the capital. I have to say you’re gonna enjoy it. Just don’t bother about the bureaucracy and the occasionally heavy traffic.
