I would have several reasons. Besides an older sister and many distant relatives, I have no family to return to. Maybe the occassional trip will suffice but it would take many many years in between. I am not really the yearly return traveller. Most of the people I grew and study with are living abroad. Hence there is really nothing for me to do there. Had seen a lot of the country even before I left. so there isnt much i am missing out. In fact I miss the older versions of the popular tourist destinations…less crowds and development then. Also, there is not much career or business opportunity for me there. Copying of business models is so rampant. It does not make it an ideal to set up shop. Competition is ruthless and savage. Idiots will copy any successful business and engage is a price reduction war which no one wins. Too much crowded. People are everywhere along with rubbish. Plus it is so stressful to live there, it takes so much time to go somewhere by car, cost so much to things, it negates a lot of the plus that many people assumed they have moving or returning there…. Security concerns, whilst you may have a fancy house it will make you a target for the lazy people to either kidnap or steal from you. I may sound too paranoid but it is true. The enviroment is really ruined. a runaway population had really ruined the enviroment. Plastics are everywhere. There are not more green spaces left. The forest are gone because people had set up there and the offcials who were elected are only in power not to make things better but they make it worse because logic is not really a favorite word for most people. People think all of the problems will just go away when the main problem is they themselves. So, I left because I have to much at stake to loose. If they like that way of life then its ok but not for me. From the 1980s up to the present people are still complaining for the same stuff because they are too cozy to change. Instead of convincing them to change which they really never like in the first place. I simply left and went where I am welcome and share the same values, like good citizenship, responsible, logical etc… I would only return occassionally but not really crazy to retire there…
