Please contact the “Philippine Retirement Authority” or “PRA”. This government office facilitates the entry and stay in the Philippines of foreign retirees – helping them to housing, health care, etc. The PRA has a website with “—-.govt.ph” as portal.

Tell me more about your intentions, and I can help you better. My husband and I moved to the Philippines from Dallas, TX. While most gay married couples from the US would rather stay in the US, retiring in the Philippines has its most obvious advantage – lower cost of living. I am a Filipino by birth and grew up in the Philippines. I’ve lived in the US for over 22 years as a restauranteur. In my husband’s case, he is not allowed spousal privileges in the Philippines yet. Until then, he is on a tourist visa extendable up to a maximum of three years where after he would need to exit the country for a “visa-run” to come back and start the three year process again. These visa-runs are but quick trips to anywhere outside of Philippine territory. He prefers to fly out to Hongkong overnight. But, it does not have to be overnight and it does not have to be just Hongkong. Other options we’re looking to fly to would be Taiwan and Kyoto. You may fly out and fly back on the same day, too. The cheapest visa-run flights are to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. UPDATE: The Philippines is the only majority Catholic country in Asia. It is also the only Catholic majority country without a divorce. With the current Pope Francis and the growing awareness to gay rights as a Human Right, we’re not loosing hope that some day soon, the Philippines will finally allow gay marriage.
