From our western point of view, they can come off that way. But it is really about them being open, and placing less emphasis on individuality, and more on family, community etc… Because in a small community group everyone knows everything. They'll ask you anything straight up: where are you from, where do you live, where are you going today…. it is quite funny really, but you should try not to be easily offended. They do however love to gossip, gossip, gossip: so if you tell them stuff – anything at all – everyone will know it in no time flat.
