Roll there like how any smart expat rolls anywhere. Keep a low profile. Stay under the radar and don’t go out of your way to attract attention. Don’t dress to standout, don’t flash around wads of money, don’t act like the ‘big man on campus’. If you behave like the proverbial ‘loud-ass American’, you are essentially painting a target on your back: to get robbed, beat-up or worse. If Filipino troublemakers think you are just average, they are more likely to leave you alone. Here is what you want Filipinos to think of you: “oh he is just a regular, nice American man. He doesn’t make any trouble for anyone”.
