Not an issue, really. Anyone can move here as long as they can sustain. The Filipino culture, especially in this modern era, is heavily westernized. In my own words, Filipino culture is like a mini version of American culture but with a Malay, Chinese and Spanish twist in it. But expect for some people to stare at you because black people aren’t that very common here in the Philippines, even the Aetas or the dark brown/black people of the Philippines are not that acknowledged and only considered as a minority. When people stare at you, it’s just because they’re curious and obviously you look different from the average locals in the Philippines although white people are also very present in the country. Some Filipinos would form their opinion about you like you look like a basketball player straight from NBA or an amazing rapper from America. It’s just simply like that or at least similar with those ones. Philippines is just like any other country in this world, we got tons of good ones and at the same time we also got thousands of bad ones. You’re always welcome here! Enjoy your life here! 🙂

Well black Americans are commonly seen in the Philippines since they are plentiful before the closure of the Subic and Clark military bases . Although they confine their movements around the bases area , Filipinos get to interact with them and eventually get used to them . One good thing going for black Americans now , is the Filipinos ‘ penchant for western music and sports especially basketball where there are plenty of blacks playing in the local league . Right now, I feel that the locals have an acceptance for them living with them even in their community . If you decide to move here , I would suggest that you buy or rent a middle sized house and lot in a mid income subdivision , have your own car and enough finances to get you throughout your stay in the PHILIPPINES . It will be extremely difficult for you if you are just planinng to find work here and live on the income .
