CorruptionPeople are not open-minded about religionCrab mentalityShallow peopleIf you are individualistic, you are gossiped by people.If you suck at singing and dancing slash no talent but physically attractive, you’re good to go.A lot of men are drunkards and smokers.Manila everyday crime is for real.A lot of people try so hard to achieve a high social status to the point of buying fake iPhones just to show off.Females trying to look western by putting contact lens as an accesory and using whitening soaps instead of embracing their true selves.Young students who are not going to school just to play video/computer games in their houses or computer cafes.Colonial mentality. Everything foreign is the best and superior.If you are not white-skinned, you are considered less attractive but of course not necessarily ugly.If you are a Tagalog or a person who speaks the Tagalog language, the national language, especially if you are from Manila, you are seen as superior compared to other Filipino ethnic groups.Yes, all of these are true. I’m pretty, so I’m not allowed to speak of ugly things… it’s even in my name (Marikit) is the old Tagalog word for beautiful. I’m just kidding… but to answer your question, I’d say that corruption is the ugly truth about the Philippines, other than that The Philippines is a beautiful place.I just hope for our ancient/precolonial cultures to be revived, because apparently a lot of Western tourists think that we are not as “exotic” with our current Westernized culture… which their ancestors forced on us to begin with. If you haven’t noticed it yet… the way I create my messages are meant to conjure emotions.
