Westerners need to understand that Asian women view romance within the context of practical life issues, while Westerners generally view romance separately from practical life issues. To understand what we mean by that, let’s consider the most important practical issue: money ! Westerners tend to think that love conquers all and money is a separate topic, but in Asia, and especially in the Phillipines where many people are poor, money matters tremendously – and no matter how much a Filipina may claim to ’love’ you, her main focus in life is to elevate her own standard of living and that of her family.
