Frankly, most of us don't care. I could very well be wrong, and the answer you may want to gather lies on who is each person you're talking with. We don't think like a hive, which we have learned to do very well in many forms so we can manage to live here in the USA, strategically. What matters really is that our individual liberties are preserved and still being fought for almost each day. For most of us here, that means being able to always have the logistics to use our very precious time according to our individual terms, and not being hampered by conditions mostly beyond our control, especially from a place most of us have moved on from since we have come here. But lately, the archipelago is behaving like a pestering, unhealing wound so most of us still can't afford to completely ignore it given our individual and collective concerns. We have learned we can only do so much from our vantage view. However, we all can see that most of the hard work has to be actually done right there in the archipelago. We’re convinced everyone is capable there. Or else, most everyone must have done something revolutionary again, just like our ancestors have done before.

First of all I don't know what makes you think it's sliding into a dictatorship, He's a sitting president and he was fairly elected by the people and still has a very large percentage of the people that support him. And i can't speak for every expat only the few i have as friends here as well as myself, I've live in the Philippines for 5 year's, I'm happily married with two daughters and run a Facebook page about the Philippines called the Philippines xpat and in all the time i have lived here my life has never changed from the last President to this one. I have never felt like i was in danger being here or that i was looked upon different once he took office. My life and routine are just the same as they've always been, so for myself He's the president the people want and I'm fine with it.
