I live in the Philippines, so I would only give you the basics. First, you won’t immediately adjust to the heat and the environment. Philippines is crowded, traffic, dusty and trash are flying anywhere. Second, the people stares at you. I heard you don’t stare at people in the US. Here, we do stare at handsome and beautiful people and strangers or foreigners especially if you have colored eyes. Here, unless we wear contact lenses, our eyes are all black. Third, you are priced more than the local prices in some services. Fourth, getting a good home with some privacy can be difficult especially if the for rent homes are not available. If you are coming to Cebu or anywhere in the islands, you can ask me for listings of condominiums. You can own a condo here but not a house with a land. Fifth, you have to be specific, house only literally means house. There it is already house with the land. You have to say land and literally land too.

I've always been in the Philippines Mr. Hart… Never been outside of my country… Coming to the Philippines from the US… You have to adjust to the timezone… Prepare for jet lag… Then there is the hot humid climate half of the year and rainy season the other half… My relatives coming from the US notice the insects as we have tropical weather… The mosquitoes but we have mosquito nets and insect repellent lotion for that… These cannot be categorized as hardship coz one can always adjust… I have American missionary friends who come here and say they are rich in the Philippines coz your dollar goes a long way here… They are amazed at the fruits and vegetables in bounty and say everything is cheaper here… They came from Utah and first time it rained hard they were so thrilled at 70 years of age… It was the first time they experienced that sort of rain that pours…
