A lot of foreigners tend to think the following. All Filipinos are Poor. – Yes, there’s a lot of poverty in the Philippines but not everyone is poor, in fact most Filipinos aren’t dirt poor as a lot of foreingers would want to think… 21% of the Philippine population is poor = (21+ Million Filipinos), which means that the other 79% are doing just fine = (80+ Million Filipinos). Restaurants and Shopping Districts/Malls in the Philippines. All Filipinas are easy and gold-diggers. – Maybe those foreingers actually go for the ‘easy’ ones because I also know Filipinas who wouldn’t want to date foreigners. Filipinos are Pacific Islanders/Latinos/Blacks… etc. – We are not Pacific Islanders, we are not Latinos and we are not Blacks… we are Southeast Asians. Filipinos have no history, culture or civilization of our own. – A lot of racists tend to think that the natives only became “civilized” when Spain colonized the archipelago… they think that the natives were only primitive stone-age tribes prior to European contact. Some misconceptions about Filipinos are: The Filipinos are poor. Some Filipinos are poor, but not all of them. Philippines is actually rich with resources. Well, yeah. Just like in other developing countries, Philippines do have poor, middle class and rich people.Filipinas are gold-diggers. Uhm.. well.. NOT ONLY FILIPINAS OKAY?!I’m kidding. Of course, as what I said, stop generalising y’all. Some Filipinas are, I do agree (because I have seen a facebook post of a man before that says ‘I only want real love but why do these girls always ask for my money and then leave’ it was not the exact same words but you get the idea) that some Filipinas are actually gold-diggers. But not all, some Filipinas know how to love a person, okay? The person, not the money. And also, I’M NOT A GOLD-DIGGER!Filipinos are dog-eaters. It actually happens, and some people eat dogs. But it’s like, 5% of the people living in the Philippines. People who eat dogs are mostly ‘tambay’ (street boys (or girls)) and from ‘squater’, an isolated area in the Philippines. Dogs also aren’t like a common ingredient we use to cook our meals. Like, c’mon. Most Filipinos actually despise dog abuse. All Filipinos can speak in english. This misconception is actually a positive misconception, but I don’t think all Filipinos can speak in english, especially the ones who haven’t got the chance to get proper education when little. But people who had gone to school and finished at least high-school can fairly speak in english. But it doesn’t mean that everyone’s good at it, or can understand accent.I think that’s pretty much it. That’s all I thought of, I don’t know haha. Comment if you know more misconceptions about Filipinos that I haven’t mentioned!
