And in alphabetic order….. Brunei is best at being oil rich. They were most recently voted the best country in the world and with the the nicest people in the world by an article from mediamasse… umm we know this is a s.c.a.m… where they also won awards for…whatever…. Cambodia is best for ancient wonders such as that of the Angkor Wat. In my viewpoint, they also have the saddest exhibition site in the whole of Southeast Asia in Phnom Penh where the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is found. East Timor wins at being the youngest sovereignty in Southeast Asia, after declaring independence most recently in 2002, and was the first independent country created in the 21st century. Indonesia is best in terms of size. They are larger than any country in Southeast Asia and did I mention Bali? That's in Indonesia too. They have more islands than anyone out there. Laos wins at being landlocked. There's no other country without a coastline other than Laos. They also have the coolest nationality of being a Lao, like it rhymes with the Tao. Malaysia is the best for caves. And when there are caves, there are bats. Malaysia also has the best traffic jams if you want to be trapped for hours during rush hour traffic. Malaysia also wins at having the number of most dangerous cities in not just Southeast Asia but the whole of Asia according to an article by world atlas in 2016. Car park muggings and kidnappings, house break-ins, slashing and stabbing as a shock technique on the street robbery. Malaysia also has the highest building – the Petronas twin towers in Southeast Asia. Myanmar is best for temple building as it's the lifetime wish of every single Burmese to build a temple. It's best at setting hot air balloons in the morning where it's almost $100,000 up in the sky over Bagan every morning. Oh and it's nearly organic food everywhere. The side dishes accompaniment to a meal beats everywhere else in not just Southeast Asia but the world. If you think having six side dishes in Korea is plentiful… experience having 20 different side dishes in the local eateries in Myanmar. The Philippines fare best at beaches, diving to see wildlife and beauty pageants. There were three Miss Universe winners from the Philippines. The Philippines also provide more migrant workers to Dubai, than any other Southeast Asian country, and form more than 20% of the population in Dubai. They also have the Pinatubo volcano which is known to have produced the largest volcanic eruption in the past 100 years. Singapore is best at law enforcement. Chewing gum was banned since 1992 as they were causing serious problems when stuck to door sensors of the local subway system. Singapore is clean and anyone would think twice about vandalism. Even Anthony Bourdain had to introduce the street food here to Barack Obama. They are also proportionally the longest country in Southeast Asia. They also win as the most successful exporter of the Asian conical hat where each was being sold for 10 euros at the 2015 world expo in Milan. In short, every country in Southeast Asia is best at something, just not everything and what's best changes over time, and varies from people to people.
