Thailand is a little more developed compared to the Philippines, and this is primarily out of infrastructure. Thailand already has Autobahn-like freeways and national roads. In the Philippines, you still need to pay for the same quality. Bangkok also has a lot of flyovers and wide sidewalks and you’re not even required to pay for them. Manila is lot like Jakarta where there are no sidewalks at all and if there’s any, it can barely fit two people. Thailand also has a national railroad system known as the SRT, while our Philippine “National” Railways can’t even get out of Luzon. Bangkok also has a subway line, although we still win in numbers of rapid transit lines with 3 operating, another 3 under construction and 3 approved. Suvarnabhumi is also a really good and really modern airport compared to our NAIA. It’s also rare that syndicates use their airports to smuggle goods while in our country, we have to cover our baggage in plastic so no one can put bullets on them. When I visited Thailand in 2015 for me and my aunt’s birthday, it was still the height of the “Tanim Bala” scam in NAIA and we were scared that we’ll get victimized too. However, we still beat them in English. Our general people may sound like Malaysians when speaking it except we don’t say “lah” and although I can’t even barely understand their language. In Thailand, people can’t even say the word “bad” and instead they say “no good”. Also, Manila has more skyscrapers and malls. Our tallest building is at 318m and it beats MahaNakhon at only 314. SM North EDSA/SM Megamall are the biggest malls in the world outside of China, and there are also many others scattered around the city, compared to CentralWorld that is far below in terms of size. Also in reality, it’s the foreigners who flock the malls and fastfood chains. You can’t see Thais buying McDonalds while Filipinos don’t care if the line takes too long here. For my opinion, Greg is right. Thailand is best at large-scale cultural displays such as Siam Niramit although we have almost the same thing here too. We also have nice beaches and I think they’re better than Hua Hin or Phuket. We also have taller mountains in the Cordilleras or Mindanao. Also, it’s best if you visit Manila at the end of your trip because it’s hassle.

I have lived in both, and still living in Thailand. and Philippines. Both the capital Manila and Bangkok. What would say the differences are. Manila has a lot more poverty, outside BGC and Makati, people living on the street is common. This is combined with the gettos, that you get with children playing with vert little clothes. Bangkok of course has it poorer areas but the who lifestyle seems to be better quality not as many people live in poverty. And the people that still live in the houses on the water do so because of choice, and have been giving grant to move but refuse. While Manila people are still forced to live in below par conditions. Both, the capitals have malls but would say Bangkok are more modern but Manila has some great ones with the Greenbelt. The transportation, Bangkok hands down. I went on Manila train system once never again. It is awful hot, old, crowded. Also, when it rains it is super muddy. While, Bangkok has a morden Japanese style MRT that is world class and is ever expanding. The traffic in both cities are really bad but Manila is constantly bad while Bangkok is only bad at peak hours. Thailand in general seems to have alot higher quality of live that is ever growing. For example,(this is not by any mean a scientific or true observation) I see cleaners and nearly every one with an apple watch that got for around $400 in Thailand (Bangkok) while in Manila people where hardly getting by. The roads and cleanless is better as well Bangkok is by no means a clean place, in fact it can be quite horrible in places. But Manila, was just something else trash piles, dirt every where it was just not a clean hygienic place.
