In general, the poorest provinces in the Philippines tend to have a pretty close 1 to 1 map onto those with the highest Muslim population (with the notable exception of Samar (at ~ 95% Roman Catholic) which, nonetheless, regularly makes the ‘poorest’ list). In general, the further south and more Muslim, the poorer the Province. The ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) is the poorest region overall with 4 of the top 5 poorest Provinces (1) Sulu, (2) Lanao del Sur, (3) Basilan and (5) Maguindanao (2018 figures from the Philippine Statistics Authority).

The place where this is situated must be the poorest place in Philippines and for your kind information, this is a river. Pasig river in Rizal province. Most unclean and highly polluted. All kinds of viruses and bacteria must be thriving here posing health hazard..
