Original Question: Can a foreigner own a house and lot in the Philippines?” I know of a foreigner who ‘co-own’ a house and lot in the Philippines with his Filipino wife. I have also heard that foreigners can share ownership with another local person(s), as long as the foreigner owns 50% or less of the property, and the co-owners can be friends, relatives, spouse, business partners, local solicitors, or just about anybody the foreigner wants as long as they are Filipino citizens. My answer is mostly based on hearsay, therefore I can't guarantee the accuracy or reliability of my statements above.

Hi, Here are the ways that a foreigner can enjoy living in the Philippines. A foreigner can legally own a residence/house but not the land.You can rent a land for the long term and build a house on it.A foreigner can legally buy a house and lot if he/she is in a corporation which is 60% owned by a Filipino Citizen.You can establish a corporation with Filipino partners and buy a house and a lot.With the Philippine Condominium Act, a foreigner can buy a condo unit as long as the tenants are 60% Filipino.Hope this helps.
