I worked in the UK for more than two years in Nursing Recruitment, specifically for international nurses who wanted to gain their registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council over here. Because of the huge number of nurses trained in the Philippines, and the lack of paid nursing vacancies in their home country, I would say around 50% of the nurses I worked with were Filipino. I quickly understood that the level of training is fantastic in the Philippines, and many of the nurses I spoke to were amazingly personable and lovely people to deal with. When they arrived in the UK I also managed them indirectly and the majority of the time, my nurses were driven to progress in their careers and strove to better themselves and the quality of care they provided. Reports from their direct supervisors and patients were always glowing. Sure, there were sometimes cultural differences but if you were moving to the other side of the world, you might need some adjustment time too. I would be honoured to be cared for by a Filipino/a nurse next time I am in hospital, they contribute hugely to our national health service.

filipino are like anywhere else, some behaviours, some qualities and defaults. i ve met very nice and caring nurses in philippines, as well as the opposite, not even saying hello, 5 tries to get my blood without a word… but, those who are willing to work oversea are usually the best of all, they re willing to sacrifice their own life to help their family, they are then hardworking and very responsible, take their job very seriously and are often very friendly. i ve met several filipinas in France, my wife s best friend is care giver, she was a nurse in philippines and came to France to help her family, husband in her studies and her 2 children. She s as sweet as philippines mangoes 😀 She s working in France for 25 years now, lives in a 16m2, so u can see the sacrifices they make for their family, dispite of that, their family are often ungrateful, her husband left her as soon as he got his engineering diplom, the sister stopped working and live from the money she sends, but at least she s raising her 2 children.
