Actually, as of June 2019. There are 17 recognized Regions of the Philippines. There are 3 major islands that comprises a country with 7,101 Islands surrounded by bodies of water. This archipelago has 187 languages. Philippines is a very diverse country. Occupied by the Spaniard (Spain) for more than 500 years. Then the Americans (USA), and Japan. Three major Islands: LUZON, VISAYAS, MINDANAO. REGIONS OF THE PHILIPPINES Region 1. IlocosRegion 2. Cagayan ValleyRegion 3. Central LuzonRegion 4. CalabarzonRegion 5. BicolRegion 6. There are 81 provinces as of October 2019. There is a law dividing the Province of Palawan into three (Republic Act No. 11259 signed by the President on April 2019) but it has yet to be approved thru a plebiscite which will be held on the second Monday of May 2020 and supervised by the Commission on Elections.
