Marawi itself is a war zone, residents have been evacuated to safe places in surrounding areas. Martial law is, so I'm told, not so noticeable in the rest of Mindanao, especially those areas further away from the scene. In the rest of the Philippines, is largely just something we read about in the news.

The Martial Law in Mindanao and the War in Marawi are dislocating alot of Native tribes in the area. The Military use their dwellings as base camps and force them out of their lands. If they don't leave they are branded as peole who work with the NPA (New People's Army) and are killed. This is something shared to us directly from a Native when they went all the way to Luzon to voice out their complaints directly at the MalacaƱang Palace the dwelling of the President.
