Answer: Universal healthcare act in the Philippines signed into law by President Duterte. The act will automatically enroll Filipino citizens into the National Health Insurance Program and expand PhilHealth coverage to include free medical consultations and laboratory tests. She may have to register her name.

There is no universal tax funded health insurance system on the Philippines. They follow the American model except employer sponsored insurance is rare. There is a government scheme that people pay into that has some coverage. It is optional. The result is as in the US, people don’t get medical care and die because of it.
