Having lived in both places, I agree, PI hospitals (common) are well below standard…. Archaic and poorly staffed & equipped…I'm sure the private hospitals are better….The one's I visited, to put it kindly, did not look clean…. I've read where other's have referred to them as midieval…. I do know in TH many western doctors chose to live, raise their family, & practice in TH….Hospitals are much higher standards in equipment, facilities, caring, & staffing…. It's also not unusual for Thai doctors to travel to the US to update their craft, I know one that does yearly…Thai hospital staff is much more compassionate….Better equipped & not overwhelmed (multiple factors involved)…. Note – PI trained nurses jump to other countries as soon as credentialed — (it's a cottage industry there, shipping labor out)….TH people tend to want to stay in their own country…. Thai health care is rated 6th best in the world — the US = 30th….I asked my US doctor about Thai health care as a consideration before moving there….She indicated she found no problems recommending Thai health care…She participated in Doctors without borders & had been involved with Thai Doctors, staff and methods of practice many times….

Most high-end hospitals in Philippines are only located in metropolitan areas like Metro Manila, Metro Cebu and other major cities, country sides only have public hospitals and clinics. Philippines is fragmented, isolation also makes it harder for an area to be fully equipped with amenities. An island most likely will not have a doctor. They may only have 1 health worker (a nurse or a midwife) and visiting doctor who visits once a week/month. Thailand on the other hand has a better health care system.
