What are the best restaurants to try when visiting General Santos City, Philippines? What should you try while you’re there?

General Santos City offers a wide array of restaurants with different styles of dishes to choose from. There are “carenderias” which offers fresh home cooked dishes at a very low price points, this stalls could be found nearly anywhere in the city; i highly recommend those carenderias which are jam-packed with tricycle drivers, they usually offer delicious dishes at a very reasonable price. If a comfortable place is what you up to, try visiting the malls in the city. They are suited with different brands of restaurants that are usually well-known. Try the Gerry’s grill and Kaizu restaurant in Veranza mall, they are great. Likewise within the mall, fast food restaurants are flourishing. As a true Filipino, rice is everything, so unli-rice promo of fast food restaurants is very great, the great Mang Inasal is the best though it tends to be really crowded in peak times. GenSan is known for it grilled meat and seafood. Tiongson Arcade is what I would recommend, it is a place where you can find wide range of restaurants that offers not just grilled stuffs but also home cooked dishes. Lastly, my favorite of all the restaurants that I’ve been in General Santos is Jo’s Chicken Inato. this place is a haven for those people who loves freshly grilled chicken that is served with atchara and the good-old unli-rice. Also try their Bihon guisado and Chapsuey guisado, they are very good; and who would forget their prominent Buko halo. This place is great, the whole ambiance of the place is very good and very Filipino, the food prices are reasonable and a great staff, though sometimes the waiting game is at its best. Ps. – Try to take a photo with their chicken boxer. 🙂

As for me I can suggest you a few for various type of food or mood you want. If you want to have a good place to dine. You can try Sarangani Highlands or Mt. Sabrina. They both have an overlooking view of the city and ofcourse serve good food!! And I recommend you going there for dinner. But If you do look for steak restaurants, maybe you can try Rolands steakhouse or Cotton Bowl. If you were looking for a place for seafoods, you must try Tiongson Arcade, food there is worth every penny . But you ask me which are my fave restaurants, i never mind going back again and again. you may try TIONGSON ARCADE, KUSINA VICTORIA, TIA NINA, the PEAK garden.
