I can answer this question in 2 cases. I was born in the Philippines. My family moved to the USA when I was 13. 15 years ago, I left the USA and moved to Prague, Czech Republic. I am single (important thing to know since it is much easier for single people to move). I would never move back to the USA because: 1. As I reach retirement age (in 6 years) I know for a fact that I cannot live in the USA with the combined pension I will receive from the USA and Czechia. 2. Being an immigrant, I have read about many openly racist attacks of white people towards non-white people in the age of Trump. I know Trump will not be president forever but his presidency opened up an ugly reality – that there are many Americans who don’t want people of color living in the USA and I don’t want to live where I am not wanted. My plan is to retire in the Philippines because: 1. My pension will be more than enough for me to live on. The cost of living in the Philippines is still very affordable. 2. When I lived in the Philippines 45 years ago, I was too young to appreciate how beautiful my country really is. 3. Filipinos are the most hospitable people in the world! It’s just too bad that the job market is not that good. It’s getting better from what I hear but it is still much better for me to stay where I am now in order to save.

Let’s slightly change the question several times… the keyword here is (SOME). Why do some Filipinos in foreign countries (expats) want to return back to the Philippines? Why do some Americans in foreign countries (expats) don't like to return back to the USA?Why do some Americans in foreign countries (expats) want to return back to the USA?Why do some Indians in foreign countries (expats) don't like to return back to India? Why do some Indians in foreign countries (expats) want to return back to India?Do you see the pattern in these questions? This question could aslo apply to other nationalities… but why is it only directed at Filipinos?Another point is… we are not mind readers, different individuals have different reasons for (moving to) or (staying in) a certain place, even if I give you 1, 2 or 3 reasons, they would still hardly cover everybody’s personal sentiments, reasons, perspectives and opinions… which means that, what I tell you would come across as generalizations without context.Yes, (some) don’t want to go back home, but (some) also want to go back home… which basically means that one side doesn’t really cancel the other. To be honest, we here on Quora have no business questioning other people’s decisions about (moving to) or (staying in) a certain place.Example: My sister has an Indian friend from college, she grew up here in the Philippines and she said that she doesn’t like to go back to India because of the different smells, the heat, the filth and she loves eating burgers.(I’m not joking, these are her own words… so who am I to judge her?… especially considering that I have not yet been to India… but I also acknowledge that not all Indians hold the same kinds of opinions, sentiments, reasons or perspectives).
