To any ladies reading this, here's a sure way to become a single mother. Step 1. Get into a relationship with an immature, irresponsible, and manipulative man. Doesn't matter what his age is. Good examples are men who have no financial discipline and men who think they're always right (and blame exes for break ups). Also, make sure he is totally incompatible with you. (To be fair, you yourself can be the one immature and irresponsible.) Step 2. Engage in unprotected sex. He'll talk you into it, better not resist. Yeah, you'll see those two strips in no time. Step 3. Because abortion is illegal here, you will definitely carry the child to term. When you give birth, stay in the relationship and watch it deteriorate (because of #1). Step 4. Because of stress, you might develop psychological problems. Bonus if you get cancer. Step 5. When everything is too much and your self-respect and logic have come running back, you may break up with the boyfriend. Congratulations, you are now a single mom! Before anyone starts hating on my answer, this is my humorous approach to my experience on why I became a single mom. Cheers!

I have two actual experiences and live for a few years in Philippines. But my current and previous long term relationships come from a young marriage. There is no sex education and I still believe that many many girls don't know the risks of unprotected sex, either in the way to get pregnant as well as contracting STDS. So they get a boyfriend and with some cheap alcohol or drugs and the way to pregnancy is easy. At young age. Many not even finishing high-school and for sure college they get pregnant. Can't finish school. Many parents force marriage and there they are. Left for the rest of life with a kid. Or more. And a young father that was really out for some good sex rather than all the rest of responsibility. The guys are way too young to carry this responsibility to their end of lives. They bump into a new sexy thing off they go. Some last. Many fail to make this a normal marriage. Divorce is illegal. As well as abortion. Consequences of that party fling sex are much more severe here in the Philippines. One anekdote. My fiancee has a son of 21. And he is in a relationship. I ask my fiancee if she ever discussed getting contraception pill for her sons girlfriend. They are together for more than 2 years. Her answer was that she is very shy and it is not done to bring this up. Totally puzzles me. But here you go. The son claims he don't have intercourse with his girlfriend. Well….Maybe so. Thinking that woman get enough "sex education" in the internet? Forget it. Thats just an excuse to not do it yourself. Internet is porn mostly if they are able to visit in the first place. Many many in the province don't have a smart phone and internet. And porn is no sex education. It just helps to go do what gets you in trouble in the first place.
