I can answer this in a long paragraph, since I don’t have much things to do. Well, this is very common to other places like every tourist or adventurer would observe, One is “What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine” or pick-pocketing, robbery aka ‘holdap’ . You aren’t sure who might be colliding whenever you want to cross the Colon St., it may not be one person or a group of young age who are attracted by your shining accessories or advanced smartphones that you flaunt even if you are riding in a Public Utility Vehicle or Jeepney (PUV/PUJ). I have an experience that in a heavy traffic of Osmena Boulevard, There was once a Korean national woman chased a middle-aged man crossing every vehicle of the said road, the woman was shouting “HELP, HELP!” even myself do not know how to respond to it. To cut the story short, I went to the other side, not knowing if the woman got back the things from the snatcher. *Minority of the people chose to not give a damn care, for they don’t want to get involved with those people. And even I, was almost a victim when I was buying some good vegetables around Carbon, good thing that I noticed his alibi of “buying” behind my back.Two, is Hocus Pocus, it may be rare these days but this is experience from my freshman years in a certain university at Cebu City. I am a Roman Catholic. And my fridays are my vacant schedule, so I get to walk from university to the Basilica Del Santo Nino. Few meters along the way to the basilica, there was once a middle-aged lady who gave me a stub for a free pieces of a certain food supplement. Not only that after claiming, she asked me if I want to win in the lottery and I answered ‘yes’. Of course that would be catchy for those for lottery fan! So me and some of the audience(I don’t know if those were victims or accomplices of the modus) gathered in a form of circle and chants like there was once a healing or should I say “prayer for the grace of luck”. We bowed our heads and end of the prayer. The woman said that she has the lucky number of the raffle draw, many of her ‘prayed people’ got almost of the jackpot draw and they were so blessed. If we meet a certain condition of giving a certain amount, we can gain the lucky raffle numbers. I dunno if it was a hundred pesos. But as a student, I don’t have much sum of money, so I refuse to give it. Think I was the only one who got out of the circle and went to the basilica after.Three, is “Ignorance is a bliss”. This is a shared experience about hmm.. I forgot but this is a shared experience. PUJ on the wee hours in Cebu City isn’t Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away but the hours of another criminal minds. Two stories but the same situation that I only heard from another mouth. You might heard from ‘holdapan’ robbery inside the PUJ, it may be two, no three of them. One is at the exit, one is at the back of the driver’s and one is at the driver’s side. But this is typical to any situation like this, but here is Cebu City, even students are victims of this modus operandi, they are using saliva for the success of the plan. What I knew was that if the victim had a saliva on their shirt, of course the focus of the victim is to clean the mess or even a saliva mixed with phlegm, yucks and then he/she leaves her valuable things unattended. So the opportunity of robbery is smooth. Another was sticking of bubble gum in the hair, same procedure same rate of succession that your 5-digit phone is now gone. Lastly, they may be in a boyband group singing “we’re not here to rob, we’re here just to sing” but they were looking at your valuable things if you might have some inside your bag, same procedure, same succession rate but they have to sing before your valuables, gone.I fogot to include this, beware also of those person who might have bring a huge bag that can cover infront of him. person infront of him might not notice but his one hand may be infront of his bag but watch closely where is other hand might have been. Two choices: one was searching the bag of another person OR he might playing his “thing’ next to you*I don’t have much experience in the number three hence, I don’t asked God to experience any of it but I am blessed that from fours years studying in Cebu City, I never encounter any of it, just a lost phone. TIP: There are lots of blind spots on the streets in Cebu City, mind not to walk there but in the roads with people passing by. There was once a student robbed along those blind spots, she refused to give those money but the perpetrator ended her life instead. And it was the enrollment the day she was killed. Hope this helps and this intel was way back FIVE YEARS AGO, I haven’t heard that gore moments since then and this is not an annual event or so, this is not a threat to everyone but the thing is that you have to be careful in every place that you don’t know. >.< pardon of what I’ve said above, it’s just I need to work >.<

I feel sorry to say that I couldn’t wear any jewelry due to massive snatching. I am scared to go out alone due to kidnapping. I am not going out with just any ride but will have to get a car service from a trusted family or friend due to hold-ups. I am just over it. So talking about the threats there you go. I am talking out of my own experience in the most realistic way I can. So to be able to enjoy the city, I would be with a group of friends or family. Then the fun is endless.
