What is the best, cleanest, cost-effective, and safest place to live in the Philippines?

My family of 3 have lived in Las Pinas City and Makati City since February 2012. We haven’t experienced any crime or violence. In fact, I feel much safer living here, than in the U.S. Of course, we don’t hang out at bars in Manila at 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning either. You couldn’t pay me to vacation in the Mindanao area. Even though Filipino friends tell me that Mindanao is not that bad, but I wouldn’t risk it. It will only take 1 incident of being kidnapped and held for ransom by some religious fanatics to ruin your day. We currently live in a 71 story condo in Makati City. There’s security at every entrance and our neighbors have similar income as us. I would recommend Makati City, Rockwell, Bonifacio Global City, Muntinlupa City, Las Pinas City and Parañaque City as relatively safe cities in the Philippines to live in. There may be other safe cities, but I’m just not as familiar with them. Makati City, Rockwell, Bonifacio Global City and Muntinlupa City will cost more than other Filipino cities. We try to blend in with our neighbors as best we can. We don’t flash our money around and don’t drive sports or luxury cars. We don’t have maids, drivers, nannies etc…

If you want somewhere in the Philippines that is clean and safe… go somewhere like Seattle that has lots of filipinos but is not in the Philippines. Or maybe Sabah.
