There are several great reasons for moving from the USA to the Philippines. What is your reason? Before I continue, full disclosure, I was born in Quezon City, but spent most of my adult life in the US before moving back here last 2014. As for myself, the move (back) to the Philippines was a solution to an end. For us, it was finding a way to spend our retirement years in a place of our choosing where we could maximize our nest egg. As a businessman with an MBA, this move of ours was based on soul-searching, economics, strategic business planning and convenience. Six years since our move, we have no regrets. Since then, we’ve opened our Southern Cuisine diner and a now famous bed and breakfast. We’re still below 62 years old so we’re still very active with our business. However, as we get older, we see ourselves entertaining our guests in the mornings as we feel like it. This current pandemic, with business being slower, it kind of gave us a glimpse of what semi-retirement might be like. We’re lovin’ it! Got specific questions? Ask below.

If you are a white norte americano or a black US citizen and got some roots here in the Pinas Islands, yes. Example: you were here a few years serving the Navy, please settle here maybe for some business or retirement. It is just like reaching out and re-connecting with friends. If you are married to a Filipina and got two or three children, come and do business here; you have a built-in family. I knew of a Pinay married to a Californian and the man is in his early 60s and the woman in her mid-40s and they got two boys; they are now in Bicol running a small business. The couple seems happy and enjoying it. A few tips: if you are married to a Pinay, seems all is okay if you run a small business to start with. With or without Digong, it seems’ above and beyond politiks, the white norte americano married to a Pinay is a good match or pair here in Pinas as retirees, managing a small business to make use of retirement time and enjoy too. If you have a skill that is usable even after retirement (example, you are a skilled machinist or draftsman) you are an asset in my republik. Just do not make a fool of yourself and join into our politiks; remember Magellan got killed here 500 years back by dabbling in some Island politics. Better, get yourself a dual citizenship; faster to process now. If you are none of the above, why not join your US Navy and tour the world free courtesy of Uncle Sam? Then enjoy whistling Puff the Magic Dragon….
