My boyfriend is Turkish and I am Filipina. We met online like most relationships these days. Yes, we are very much attracted to each other. the things he told me he likes is my tan skin color, dark hair, and slim build. Funny enough, he says I am “bronze”. I’ve never heard my complexion described that way. He says he loves my eyes and my smile. The attraction definitely goes both ways. My boyfriend is very handsome, tall, with dark curly hair. Beyond looks, he likes a woman that can cook, can take care of herself, and is somewhat shy. He says he loves the fact that I am sweet and affectionate. So for most Filipinas, these traits are already part of our culture. Especially if you grew up in the provinces. You’ll be surprised at all the little things that can make this relationship between our two cultures work. For example, some of our home cooking is very similar. Turkish dishes have tomato paste, peppers, onions, vegetables and plenty of fish. They have a delicious rice dish called pilav and surprisingly they offer both a fork and a spoon in home restaurants in Turkey. You’ll feel right at home.

My first visit to Philippines was in 2009. After that I visit several times totally I stayed 6–7 months and even fall in love with a Filipina. The funny fact was when I tell people I from Turkey, all they know about Turkey was Yilmaz Bektas. They were asking me if I know Yılmaz Bektas. When I say no they were offended How I don’t know he is a Turkish Celebrity and businessman married to Beauty Queen of Philippines. I think he is nobody in Turkey but a scammer in Philippines 🙂
