Meeting someone online is a bit risky no matter who you meet. People from overseas in general possibly might just be finding a way to go to another country and has the potential to use someone to get married and able to enter another country legally. This may be true and may not be. It’s a gamble you will have to take. While it’s understandable that it is hard to meet people in today’s era, try to find some other way to meet people such as taking classes, volunteering, attending social gatherings, etc…. As to marrying, there’s always ups and downs in every marriage regardless of nationality. Every individual has its own positives and negatives —- no one is perfect. The only thing that may go wrong is the cultural differences. Some things about filipino culture may not suit your liking.

Hopefully you have met with her in person many times and not just on some Philippines dating site. Preferably you also lived with her for some time. In my opinion, you can only fully get to know a person if you live together for some time. Another great way of getting to know a person is through traveling. There are often some problems along the road when you travel and it is important to see your girlfriends not only during good times, but also during bad times. Also make sure that there aren´t any bigger cultural differences. Some Filipinas are very religious and if you have no faith, it could cause problems. Maybe she would be okay with you not being religious, but she could expect that your future kids would be raised religious. Talking about this might be uncomfortable, but it is better to talk about it before rather than after marriage. Not all Filipinas marry foreigners for money as some people commented here, but of course some Filipinas are really primarily after financial security. Be sure yours is not one of them.
