You have to brace yourself for massive culture-shock. It may appear that being married to a Filipina is easier than being married to other Asian women because Filipinos have a strong Western veneer, as the Philippines is a former colony of Spain and the US, but beneath this veneer lies a culture that is, under many aspects, light years away from the Western mentality. The main challenge for a Western man who marries a Filipina is the strong relationship Filipino women have with the extended family. I lived for 10 years in the same house with my mother-in-law and my brother-in-law. In law's tend to interfere a lot in the life of a married couple and rarely do Filipinas see it fit to set boundaries.
