Indonesia vs Taiwan vs PH

As an expat, which one would you live in, if you had a choice: Indonesia, Taiwan or Philippines? Why?

Well not Taiwan, not to retire anyway (which is what is in my mind), for work maybe. So, Indonesia vs Philippines. It is a rather hard question, they are both large Countries from massive megacities to rural villages. Jakarta and central Kalimantan or somewhere in Papua bear no resemblance to each other. Same with Manila vs somewhere in Mindanao (where you would have to be bloody stupid to retire as an expat – too dangerous). I have been to the Philippines many times, lived there for a while. Been to Indonesia more times but not for as long and am planning to retire there but then again I am married to an Indonesian. Even if I were not I would probably still pick Indonesia. I just prefer it though to be honest in terms of lifestyle there is little to choose. Philippines is probably easier for most foreigners, you can travel further from tourist zones or major cities and people still speak English and the bureaucracy in Indonesia is a total clusterfuck, in Philippines it is merely slow.
