I’m an American going to the Philippines to live. Do you recommend that I get security bars on my house?

Absolutely, yes! Indeed, I don’t think I’ve seen a single home not having security bars. Also, you want plenty of security bars on your outside gates and front and back doors. And while you’re at it, have good mosquito screens installed. Make sure whoever is doing the security bar job for you that they know what they’re doing. And, make sure you have a fire exit on one or more of your windows. Many Filipino homes have bars but no exits. You find security bars on both poorer homes as well as wealthier homes. And after you install the bars don’t forget to install a couple of CCTV cameras and a recording device. Stay safe!

I live in the Philippines I have now lived here for 3 yrs and now on My fourth year I live on a subdivision in Davao City in Mindanao and we have security grills on our windows downstairs but not upstairs in case of fire , most homes in the Philippines have Security grills unless people live in condos some people put them on the inside some on the outside also we have a 2 metre high fence and gates and 2 metre high back wall also have 3 dogs 2 only pups at the moment we have good views of Mt Apo pretty quiet neighbourhood no kareoke blasting at all hrs our dogs are pretty good not noisy only when they need to be like in the early hrs of the Morning if people are wandering about ,
