First get fit & healthy, exercise, eat right and take care of yourself. Then keep your Medicare coverage because you may end up moving back to the USA sometime in the future, or in an emergency you could fly out to Guam (US territory) for covered medical care. Next join PhilHealth – it only costs a few dollars a month, and it will get you admitted into PH hospitals without any fuss. Next, if you can afford it, buy some private health insurance in the PH: like BlueCross Philippines or Allianz Care. Lastly, keep a few thousand dollars saved for medical emergencies just in case, b/c anything can happen!
