Straight hair is common amongst Asians. But actually, a lot of Filipinos have curly hair. Curly hair seems to occur more often with Filipinos than any other Asian ethnicity. I have thick, pin-straight hair, it’s really hard to curl it. My mom, though, has wavy hair that can get pretty frizzy. And then my dad has a Filipina friend who has very curly hair (the small tight curly type). I think that a lot of the Filipina girls you see with straight hair may have had it re-bonded. I often get asked in the Philippines if my hair has been re-bonded because it’s such a common thing to do. But that’s not to say that curly hair is more common. I can’t say that it is because… when I see a Filipina with straight hair, I can’t tell if it’s natural or re-bonded either.

I am a Filipina. I have a straight hair. My hair is a VIRGIN. For me, genetics play a vital role on the quality of my hair. We usually keep it pampered also and maintain it using natural and organic products like coconut oil, olive oil, aloe vera and we comb it more than 100 strokes every night. For us, hair is our crowning glory. Gracias!
