If you do not have any Filipino relatives then it is best to live in an area that already has plenty of U.S. Citizens. There are many places that have a plenty of Americans. Most Filipinos are quite friendly too. Some of the spots where Americans live are pricey. Only you know what you can afford. All the Americans I encountered were very helpful and in the Philippines by choice……they are tired of the U.S.A. rate race. Should you have Filipino relatives, that is a game changer. I am blessed in that regard. You will have no problem finding plenty of Americans but each area has a different price point so you must be the one to decide what can be afforded. Feel free to ask me more detailed questions.

There is no such “best place” because the preference of an individual varies from one person to another. My advice is for you to come as tourist first, visit several places and hang around for one to two weeks in each place. That will give you a better feel. Based on your needs and budget, hobbies and occupation, check out the best fit. The Philippines has a very diverse range of choices – from food, malls, golf courses, beaches, occupations, medical facilities, and of course many friendly and hospitable people who will become your close friends. Just like any other country, there are also bad eggs and so you should mingle with due care and caution. Welcome to the Philippines!
