I was born and raised in Baguio City & from the “original” family. The best tourist sites are now closed to the public unfortunately. You cannot visit even for a few minutes. Because I have a residence near the place, I can visit. There was a time a TV show that featured the place caused traffic & an influx of tourists may have caused the forest fires. About 5 hectares of reserves got burnt. These are places you should not miss: Philippine Military Academy – I’ve been here a few times for events like their graduation ceremonies. Always a great experience! I think you should check when you can visit.Camp John Hay – Some spots require you to pay about $3. They’re not remarkable & honestly, I don’t find the golf course picturesque. We worked hard to make sure they don’t fence out the middle class and the poor. There was a year they intended to make it exclusively for the uber rich. Some houses in this place are an eyesore. They’re owned by the country’s elite. Why visit? Because John Hay is everyone’s park. Poor, rich, middle class. You will see all of them in that park. I used to WORK in that park. Yes, it’s a great place to focus on work.Try local restaurants like Good Taste, Sizzling Plate and Café by the Ruins. You might be surprised that steak is cheap & the quality of the food’s quite good by world standard. Note: I lived and traveled in nearly every APAC country. The food here isn’t remarkable, but the quality relative to the cost is great.

If you’re adventurous, there’s more stunning places not to miss that will start from Baguio City up to Cordillera region especially Atok Benguet or try Mt Pulag for mountain hiking where you’ll enjoy clouds lower than your level. For me the first time I became resident in Baguio City, what made me enjoy is the cold weather that so zero in the lowland like Manila and all towns. Baguio City is one of the few coldest places in the Philippines. But this place is getting crowded due to visitors/tourists, and college students who prefer to study here because of the excellent higher education. Baguio City is foggy but kinda hot when it’s summer but not extremely hot. Don’t miss stunning mountains and rice/vegetable terraces including the hanging coffins by Igorot people. Besides, it’s inexpensive to travel around Baguio City up to Cordillera region. Safe and peaceful.
