Depends on who you ask. Award-giving bodies tend to be as superfluous as the awards themselves. Bacolod is a very livable city. I thought I’d retire here but with the worsening situation in Metro Manila and the circumstances and opportunities that arose, I find myself now still working and living here. Cost of living is low, bad traffic is a rare occurrence, and the restaurants are excellent. The pace of life is slow, which is both a pro and a con. Most of the conveniences of big-city living are here and we are currently in a commercial and housing boom. How that will eventually impact livability is still anyone’s guess but most are optimistic. The only thing I wish we really had was a better airport that could finally handle commercial international flights so that we don’t have to fly out to Manila first. I wouldn’t say it’s the best city in the Philippines right now, but you certainly could make a case for it being in the top 10.

I have not heard of that. But the thing is, Bacolod is very similar to every other city in the country. It does not have anything to set it apart. Personally, I like cities that are walkable. But Bacolod sadly is not. It has great array of restaurants though. I think the level of cooking in this city is one of the best in the Philippines.
