What advice would you give to someone who is moving to Zamboanga City, Philippines?

I only crossed this question today. I am from Zamboanga City and I will tell you my honest opinion about it. Contrary to what people are saying, Zamboanga City is one of the safest place to live. Our local dialect is Chavacano (a Spanish Creole Multilingual Language). We are not part of any Muslim Regions or under an autonomy, we are an independent city under the jurisdiction of National Government, we are neither part of Zamboanga Del Sur or Norte. We have our own City Mayor and two district Congress Representative. My only advice is enjoy your life in Zamboanga City. Everything comes cheap, nice place to move in. All we can say “VAMOS NA ZAMBOANGA” – Welcome to Zamboanga City.

I see no one has answered this for a while, so as an Expat living in Philippines I'll give my opinion (and that of a few others). Zamboanga is not one of the safer cities in Mindanao owing to the various armed groups that are active in the area. It may be a great place to live, but I know a few Filipino people (Christian and Muslim) who have moved elsewhere owing to the security situation. If you are an Expat, think carefully about such a move and research it via more authoritative avenues than Quora such as your own embassy. US practically declares Mindanao no-go zone for Americans Philippines Travel Warning Nationals of other countries will have similar advice.
