Healthcare in the Philippines suffers from a shortage of medical resources, especially doctors, modern equipment and supplies. This makes it less efficient then western nations. Take my daughter for instance when she was a month old she came down sick with ammonia. We rushed her to the only doctor in town that was open at 8pm with a fever of 103. We get to the clinic and they tell us they don't have the equipment to treat a infant and we needed to take her to the next closest hospital which is a hour drive. So we arrived to only be told they were not setup to treat a infant and we would need to travel 2 more hours to the nearest hospital capable of giving her care. Remember she was running a temp of 103 and it took three hospitals and a total of 5 hours of driving and talking to medical personnel to get help for a month old infant with ammonia and a temperature of 103 and after we get to the hospital they ask if we would like a private room which i agreed on, now let me explain that a private room only means there will be 4 to 6 other patients in the room, if you choose not to get a private room you will be put in a bed lined up in the hallway. So we get settled in a bed in a room with 5 other patients they proceed to put in a i.v and we realized there's no bathroom in the room we have to go down the hallway 3 or 4 rooms with another 4 or 5 patients to share their restroom. Well after all this they have my daughter's bed lined up against a huge plate glass wall and a raging typhoon hits and blows the glass wall in and it exploded all over us. So with my wife totally losing it and grabbing my daughter up with a i.v and all still in her hand and running out of the room i proceed to calmly remove the glass off me as I'm getting hammered by raging wind and rain. So i gathered our thing's check on my daughter and calm the wife and proceeded to find out from the staff our next move. So they move us to the room with the restroom and my daughter came out ok and just turned two days ago. But that is the difference in medical care if you live in a poor province or are rich in large cities .Filipino families who can afford private health facilities usually choose these as their first choice . Private hospitals provide better care than the public hospitals that lower income families usually have to go to. The public hospitals tend to be in rural areas that are more run down. These hospitals have less medical staff and equipment and supplies. Although advances have been made to improve healthcare in the Philippines with phil health a government insurance that covers most of the cost for the less fortunate , there are still many issues that the country has yet to overcome to achieve a high quality, cost efficient healthcare system. This is my daughter in the hospital and the room we were in after the typhoon hit.

when it comes to healthcare, Philippines is the hell in the whole world. I will advise you if you ever come to Philippines and get sick do not consult a doctor, go back to your home country and visit a doctor. I’m telling this because I’ve been here for more than 4 years and I’ve never seen such a bad healthcare facilities in my entire life, I’ve seen patient dying because doctors coming so late to the hospital. moreover people have no enough money to pay for the treatment. some doctors doesn't even know how to diagnose, one of my friend died because of wrong diagnosis. while other friend had infection on his little finger, he was advised to cut his finger, then he flew back to his country and did the treatment without cutting his finger.
