For most retirees, it’s about the cost of living. But, if you are single, it is a very nice place for dating. Filipinos really like Westerners. And the average age is 23. So, it’s also a very young country. But it has downsides too. Healthcare is cheap but they are not so good at handling chronic issuesIt’s filthy. They burn their plastic trash and they also throw trash on the ground. The cars, trucks and buses don’t have catalytic converters. The water is filthy. The country is a mess. The food mostly sucks. Some of it is good. A lot of it is too salty and too sweet and too fatty.Infrastructure is terrible. Roads are clogged with terrible drivers. Water, electric and internet are unreliable. But if you are looking to retire on a modest monthly check and you want to date younger women, it’s paradise.

Cheap living, cheap sexual delights, cheap skilled massage (legit and otherwise), cheap home-based skilled nursing, warm friendly people, tropical warmth, beaches, boating, diving, partying, one of the world capitols of karaoke, extreme pollution, substandard sanitation, endless biting and stinging bugs of all kinds, indoors and out, rats, dogs, brown-outs, out-of-control flooding, high crime, terrible government, close proximity to asia, australia, and they love americans, embrace american culture and american English. I almost retired there. Then I came to my senses.
