My answer is based from my conversations with my classmates who are from Korea and from reading articles on the internet. 1. Affordable Education to learn EnglishPhilippine Schools (even the "top" universities) are generally more affordable compared to universities in South Korea. A significant number of Koreans who study in the Philippines are here to learn English; As English is considered to be the business language of the world. This increases the marketability of the person. Although the most common answer is to learn English, there are also a lot of Koreans who take up degrees other than English such as International Studies and Psychology. There are also academies in the Philippines that are like "Tutors centers" that specifically teach English. 2. Affordable costs of livingCost of living in the Philippines, similar to Education, is generally cheaper compared to Korea. 3. Business OpportunitiesThere are Korean Families that also decide to do business in the Philippines as it may be more difficult to do business in Korea as there are a lot of businesses already set-up there. 4. WeatherThere are also that prefer the weather in the Philippines.

Why do a lot of Koreans go to the Philippines? Philippines is easy to communicate because many people speak English. In Korea, we learn a lot of English among foreign languages. Therefore, Koreans with a certain education can communicate with Filipinos in simple and easy English. In the case of Southeast Asia, Thailand also uses English, but not as much as the Philippines. Other Southeast Asian people can't understand any questions in English except for professionals. Maybe this is why I'm going to the Philippines. Also, it seems that the Philippines is going to the Philippines more because it costs less to stay in the Philippines than the United States in order for Koreans to learn English. Korean university students are learning English with a working visa for several months in Australia to learn English. I think I usually go to Australia with a working visa because I can't stay in Australia for many months on a regular visa. Many university students go there to learn English together with Australians, not just to do part-time jobs. And another reason why many Koreans go to the Philippines is that the Philippines participated in the Korean War, so the Philippine government is relatively reliable to Koreans. It is because there is a belief that the Philippine government does not deliberately bother Koreans because Korea was helped by the Philippine government in the past.
