When you come into the Philippines you get a 30 day visa if you wish to stay in the country longer you must go to an immigration office to extend your visa where you will get a further one month extension, if you wish to remain even longer you go back to immigration and get another extension this time for 2 months also you will also need to apply for your ACR card which is the Alien certificate of registration which takes normally up to one month to process , you can keep extending your tourist visa up to 3 years without leaving the country after 3 years you must leave the country for at least 24 hrs then you can come back and the whole process starts again but before you can leave the country if you have been in the country for more than 6 months you must obtain from the immigration office you have been getting your extensions from an ECC which is an exit clearance certificate, this is to make sure you have not broken any laws while you have been in the country this is valid for one month , now if you intend to come back into the Philippines apart from booking a return flight ticket you must also book an onward flight ticket or throw away ticket as your not going to use it as your going to extend your visa within the 30 days if your entry visa . It’s the law here and won’t be able to get on a plane back to the Philippines without it , by the way you do not have to go back to your own country you can visit any of the countries close to the Philippines like Malaysia or Singapore Thailand, Aldo at the Airport you will need to pay p 1600 Airport tax also a P700 terminal fee it’s a pain , also show your ECC to Immigration or you wont be able to leave the country.
