I have a friend moving to the Philippines. How much money would he need to earn a month to have a good life?

First, why is he moving here? Is he a retiree? Or coming here to work? You mentioned how much he needed to earn. Is he is thinking he will find work here, he needs to stay where he is, the is no work for the Filipino people much less a foreigner. If he is retired and on SS or a pention, he can live in and around Manila for $1200 a month if he is frugal. He needs to do alot if research, and find a area that will meet his needs at a cost he can afford. If he can find a province he likes, then $1200 a month will be more than enough. But the quality of live in the province is not the same as living in and around Manila.

U.S. In smaller towns. $1,200 is bottom a month. For a good simple life. Easy to do that in Dumaguete if you don’t go out to much. Above that life gets better. Allow for inflation. But not in Manilla. I would recommend $2,000 a month for a good life. & above. $4,000 a month in the Philippines it gets hard to spend that much. Unless in a major city with a down town condo.
