In the U.S. the cost of water ranges widely from about $24/MCF to over $100/MCF. If we consider a median cost of $50 per MCF and use the engineering standard for design of 100 gallons per day per person in the modern home, then the cost is as follows: $50.00 for 7,480 gallons (1 MCF) = $0.0067 per gallon x 100 gallons = $0.668/day So, the cost per person per day is 67 cents

Hi Julia. Your question has challenged my thinking. While I cannot answer it I am thinking that my long life has been caught up in getting what I “think” I needed which often ended up in just “wanted “and then I have wasted a great deal of water and as a result have run up the water bills. I am sorry to admit my waste in believing that our resources are endless which is a“fake” belief so I am wanting to live a balanced life taking no more water than I need. Everyone has unique ways of looking at our waste problem so I am guessing that it would be difficult to approximate what the cost would be because of so many differences and also because of changing needs and wants on a daily basis
