Because they fail to recognize that they are in another country that doesn't have to make things to their standard or what they are used to. They also fail to recognize that though they have chosen to live there, they are still guests there and should act like a guest, which means politely. I'm from the US, but I traveled to England with a friend. It was off season, so we were in a hostel with only one other couple. We sat down to a full English breakfast, which was very hearty, and all they did was complain: “Who eats beans for breakfast? Why would someone fry tomatoes? Why put the toast in a rack so that it gets dried out?” Meanwhile, I thought the breakfast was fascinating. I have no taste for canned beans, and I'm not a lover of tomatoes, but the eggs were deliciously fresh, the bacon was fabulous–you can't find bacon like that in the US, I'm spoiled for life–and I thought the toast rack was the perfect thing to keep the toast from getting soggy. Why don't we have them? Their behavior was rude and embarrassing. Makes the rest of us look bad. We saw them again while standing in line at the Tower of London. They were still complaining about everything–as if Britain could control the weather in March!–and making their way up to the front of the line to try to cut in. They were preposterous, and bad examples, and thankfully we didn't see them again. We have a saying about that kind of thing here: “Were you born in a barn?”

My mom used to say, “he’d b^tch if he were hung with a new rope.” People are just good at complaining. Traffic? Lines? Roads? Prices? Politics? Neighbor’s dog? Neighbor’s children? Their own children? Too much homework for school kids… or not enough (how they supposed to be learned stuff if they dont’s practice)? The price of rice in China? The price of tea in China? The presence of law enforcement? The lack of law enforcement presence? Speeders, but only until they get caught speeding? Tailgaters, unless it happens to be them “running late again, sorry?” EEEEEEEEEeeeeevvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrry thing What I like is when people go someplace else and complain…. IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT…LEAVE and don’t come back now, ya’hear. People complain.
