I moved to the Philippines in 2015 from the USA because I needed a place where the cost of living was lower. I have friends in the Philippines who assisted me in relocating, something I didn't have in other countries that would have been attractive, such as Panama or Equator. While no place is perfect I'm happier here than in America.

Certainly not on purpose. My visa ran out in China and came here for a while. Got married and stuck. I am happy with my wife, but life here is a nightmare. Especially if you are white. Filipinos HATE white people. They are very rude and racist. You face harassment and discrimination everywhere. And run a high risk of crime and murder. Life here is a living hell. But it is impossible to earn enough to go abroad.
